“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” –1 Peter 1:18-19

“Never say never” and “Nothing lasts forever” are popular axioms in our modern-day culture. Being human, we are well aware of just how fickle life is, and even just how fickle we are.

Everywhere we turn, we see societal norms and institutions crumbling. Behaviors, words, and political postures that would have ben scandalous a mere five or even three years ago are now normalized, widely accepted and considered by many to be the “new normal.”

In business, life, and in the political arena, a man’s word used to be “his bond.” When an individual swore to hold a particular opinion, ran on a specific platform, or promised to take a certain stance on an issue, constituents could vote with confidence, believing their values were shared by their elected officials. Today, truth and morality have long given way to political expediency, currying favor with ungodly leaders, and outright lies and hypocrisy.

Living with the transience that seems to be the norm for our present world, aren’t you glad we have a sure foundation in Jesus Christ? We can count on the truth of God’s word and His promises, knowing He is not a man and He cannot lie (Numbers 23:19).

We can live in the security of being held in His mighty hand, confident in the fact no one can pluck us out. Not only that, but the eternal life also given to us through Jesus Christ means we will never perish (John 10:28).

Yes, everything and everyone around us is corruptible and contaminated. This world we live in will one day pass away. Earthly treasures and things considered “valuable” will one day pass away.

Thankfully, a believer has the blood of Jesus Christ applied to his or her life. His blood washes us clean and will one day bring us into the direct presence of God. Nothing is stronger and purer than the blood of Jesus—and it will never lose its power!

Be Blessed.
