Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Isaiah 41:10 KJV
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Luke 12:32 KJV
Sitting in Dallas traffic can try the patience of the most patient of Saints. I sat in the gridlock of I-635, mentally chastising myself for not paying attention to peak traffic cycles. It was 5:15 in the afternoon – where did I think I was going?? Why hadn’t I left sooner for my appointment?
As I sat there, I offered up a silent prayer for God to help me ward off frustration. I began to create a mental checklist of people and conditions I needed to pray for. I thought of the emails and text messages I’d received just that week from people requesting prayer. Many of them were in dire situations requiring the Lord’s divine intervention to see them through.
A good number of the people with the requests had been filled with dread, fearful of the outcomes they would experience if God didn’t move on their behalf. Forgetting about my destination and the cars surrounding me, in the true spirit of an intercessor I began to pray. I beseeched God to heal bodies, bring marriages back together, bring wayward sons and daughters home, and send financial blessings. Leaning over and reaching in my purse for a tissue, my eyes fell on the bumper sticker of a pickup truck over in the lane next to mine. Ain’t skeered! the sticker proudly proclaimed.
The words were simple, yet powerful. I immediately thought of Isaiah 41:10, and the Lord sending words of encouragement to His people. We had no reason to fear or be dismayed because He – the God of all creation – is with us. There is no need to fear calamity and negative outcomes because regardless of what we face, our heavenly Father promises to not only give us strength, but to help us. Not only that, He offers assurance He will take things even further: He will uphold us with His right hand of righteousness. Hallelujah!
Knowing this, we can rejoice. We have no reason to fear because not only will God help us, uphold us and sustain us, Jesus tells us it’s His good pleasure to not only do these things, but to give us the kingdom. We can face any obstacle, any trial, and any tribulation with confidence because the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords is on our side. We ain’t skeered! Be Blessed.
